New online gambling code of conduct
5th October 2007
A new online gambling code of conduct was launched yesterday (Wednesday, October 4th) in Barcelona, Spain at the 6th annual European i-Gaming Congress and Expo (EiG Expo) with the objective of better addressing international online gambling standards and procedures.
The new code was revealed to delegates at EiG Expo who represent all aspects of the online gambling industry, including online gambling operators, online gaming software providers, affiliates, online payments processors and many others.
The code is aimed at addressing key online gambling procedures and standards within the industry concerning in specific areas, including measures to protect online gamblers, prevent underage gambling, standardize online gambling advertising and promotions.
As one of the online gambling industry's largest events, organizers felt that the EiG Expo was the ideal platform and forum from which to launch the new code, which also coincides with the release of the UK Gambling Commission's 'white list'.
The white list contains a list of online gambling websites deemed to be safe for UK players and thus suitable in terms of advertising.
Said EiG Expo speaker and MD of GamCare Trade Services, Andrew Poole, 'We are hoping that adoption of this code will better enable the gambling public to make better informed decisions regarding their online gambling destinations, with the knowledge that operators are required to protect the welfare and enjoyment of their players.'
